We’ve teamed up with our friends at Zante Speed Boats so you can book your boat right here at no extra cost. They offer multiple pick up times in multiple resorts for what has been voted Zakynthos’ top daytime activity.
The boats run on a 35hp engine, plenty to get a nice bit of speed up if you so wish. The highlights of renting your own boat are simple. You can explore Marathonisi (Turtle Island) at your own pace, find hidden beaches, go snorkelling through caves and even find some perfect spots for cliff jumping (at your own risk!). But by far the pick of the bunch is to find and swim with the protected Caretta Caretta Turtles in the Bay.
You can book a medium boat for up to 4 people or a slightly larger boat that holds up to 9 people, and if you need more than 1 boat, that can be arranged too. If you’re picking up your boat in Laganas, the meet point is Pure Zante, when you arrive you can even order a drinks package including beers/cocktails/spirits/champagne/Water/Ice/Snacks pretty much whatever you want at almost supermarket prices. Just remember, the designated driver won’t be able to drink… However, for an extra €40 you can book a skipper who will do all the driving for you.
You’ll have a short lesson before taking off for the morning/afternoon and most trips are for 4 hours, which is plenty of time to do everything we’ve listed above. The only licence you need is at least a provisional driving licence. Only 1 person in your group needs this, they will be the designated driver. However, if nobody in your group has a driving licence, you can book a skipper for an extra €40 at the time of booking.
Our Laganas boats live from Agios Sostis harbour, from here you can visit Marathonisi (Turtle Island), Keri Caves/Lighthouse and explore caves and beaches in between. It is not possible to reach the Shipwreck using these boats as Navagio Beach is located at the opposite end of the island.
Unfortunately, by law, the maximum occupancy of the speedboats is 9. If there are 10 in your group, we would suggest booking 1 medium boat (4 people) and 1 large boat (6 people) so you get the best value for money.
Booking in advance guarantees you the boat for the day and time you want it, especially in June/July/August boats sell out daily and you may not be able to rent one at all. Be organised and you won’t regret it.
All of our speedboats, no matter the size, have a 35hp engine. This is the maximum engine size allowed for self drive boats across the whole island.
